BOMAG Bullriding is an action mobile game for BOMAG Austria, a subsidiary of a German-based compaction equipment manufacturer. The company planned to organize a fun promotional event, BOMAG Bull Riding Day, for the owners of construction companies, construction managers, workers and their kids. As part of the event’s advertising campaign, BOMAG decided to launch a promotional mobile game.
The player plays Gunther, a Clint Eastwoodish trench roller operator, who rides a BOMAG BMP-8500, aka “Trench Bull”. The goal is to stay in the saddle as long as possible, which reminds of a classic rodeo competition. A game ends when the player falls off the “bull” — after that they can submit their score to the leaderboard. If the player’s result remains in the top-10 until the leaderboard ‘freeze’ date, they will get a free ticket to the BOMAG Bull Riding Day and some other special awards.
BOMAG engaged zGames for a full-cycle game project — from the GDD phase and artworks creation to the post-release warranty maintenance. zGames project team of four people employed Unity to create the app, test and upload it to the app stores within 2 months.
